5. THE BASICS
- To play in the classic component of the NRL Tipping competition:
- Enter or update your Tips for all scheduled matches, at any point up until the scheduled ‘lock out’ of each match.
- Ensure you enter a predicted winning Margin for the featured game of the Round or be given the default margin (see Margin Prediction below).
- If you forget to Tip you will automatically be allocated the predictions based on your pre-set Auto / Forgotten Tips preference.
- To play in the Streak component of the NRL Tipping competition:
- All entries will automatically be entered in the public competition starting from Round 1, game 1,
- Get on a Tipping Streak by picking consecutive-match winners,
- You can streak tip any match in the schedule or ‘skip’ a match (i.e. do not include it in your streak predictions),
- Your Streak Tip must be made prior to the match ‘locking out’,
- If you pick a losing team your active Streak ends and you start another active streak at the next tipped match in the schedule,
- The longest consecutive winning sequence will represent your current Streak ranking total.
- There is no automatic tip scenario for Streak.
- Margin Prediction
As part of your ‘classic’ tipping you must submit your Predicted Margin for one randomly-selected match a Round (Tipping) and the match of your Streak tip (Streak), by nominating a points margin for that match. The difference between your Predicted Margin and the actual match margin will be your Round Margin Score and will be added to your Accumulated Margin Score every Round.
Both margin scores are used to determine ranking position in the event of a total points tie.
- Match Facts
As well as the teams in each head-to-head match-up, you will be provided with past match-up data, including:
- Form: Immediately prior rounds results for each team,
- Previous: Results for prior match-ups between the two teams,
- H2H: Summary record of the head-to-head match-ups,
- Ins & Outs: Team changes from previous match.
We may add further data if/when practical.
This section also links to the NRL match Centre and tickets.
- Create & Join Competitions:
- You may create up to five(5) competitions.
- There is no limit to how big you make your Competition. Link your Facebook and X accounts so that you can play against your social networks.
- Your Competition can be either Private for just you and your friends or open to the public and will commence at the beginning of the upcoming Round, by default. The administrator of a Private Competition is the only one who can invite others to the Competition. That person can also remove users from the Competition and add expert Tippers to the Competition.
- Join as many competitions as you like. View your progress on the Rankings page(s).
- Regenerating Prior-Year Competitions
Step 1
- Find and click the "Regenerate your <previous year> comps" button on the Comps. list page. This will generate a list of comps that can be regenerated.
- Select a comp. to view the settings as well as any applicable notifications (e.g. this comp. name is already in use etc).
Step 2
- If you regenerate a comp. you can only change the following settings (all other settings are hidden):
- Name
- Privacy
- Start date
Step 3
- All the participants of your old comp. will be pre-populated in the Name & Email fields. You can remove anyone you don't want. Note that open comps with 20+ users will not list all email addresses. Rather simply click the "Invite All Button" to invites all players from last season.
- The comp. is then created.
- Once the comp. is (re)created it will no longer appear on the "Regenerate A Comp." screen.
- Site rankings and leader boards:
Your entry is automatically entered in the overall competition for ‘classic’ Tipping (including your club-specific supporter competition) and Streak. Both Tipping (overall and comps) and Streak have a leader board accessible in the Rankings section.
6. SCORING OF POINTS – CLASSIC TIPPING
- An Eligible Entrant may make or change a Tip for a given Match in a Round at any time prior to the scheduled starting time of that Match.
- Eligible Entrants will be allocated points based on their Tips (“Score”).
- One (1) point will be allocated for each correct winning team selection.
- Zero (0) points will be allocated for each incorrect team selection
- In the event of a Match drawn, cancelled, abandoned, not completed or not played for any reason and/or a result not officially declared within three (3) days of the date the Match was originally scheduled to be played, it is treated as a win for both teams competing in that Match.
- All entrants correctly tipping all winning teams in any given round where 8 games or more are played will receive a Bonus Point. I.E. there will be no bonus points awarded in Round 12 (5 NRL matches only scheduled). The bonus is not awarded to entrants who did not submit one or more tips, thus there is no bonus for a forgotten tip scenario producing wins for all teams in a Round.
- If an Eligible Entrant:
- Does not submit a Tip for a given Match in a Round, then the Eligible Entrant's Tip for that Match will be allocated based on the entrant’s pre-set Auto / Forgotten Tips choice. This option is set at registration and can be altered until lock-out of the first match of the Tipping season.;
- Enters the Promotion after the commencement of the first Round, then the Eligible Entrant’s Tips for those Rounds that have been completed will be deemed to be for the away teams, with a maximum of 4 points per Round;
- Does not enter a Margin for a Margin Match, then the Eligible Entrant’s Margin will be the average Margin of all the Margins submitted by Eligible Entrant’s in that Round.
- Auto / Forgotten Tips
- An entrant must set their preferred option during registration. They may change this selection until the lock-out of the first scheduled match of the season. The options are:
- Home Team: The team listed in the official draw as having a home game (even if the match is scheduled away from that team’s home ground),
- The Crowd: The team designated as favoured by the majority of other NRL Tipping entrants,
- Ladder: The team higher up the NRL ladder heading into the match-up,
- Favourites: The team designated as favoured to win by the NRL’s wagering partner at the match lock-out.
- An entrant must set their preferred option during registration. They may change this selection until the lock-out of the first scheduled match of the season. The options are:
- For the Crowd & Favourites options, if the two teams are priced or tipped equally the auto / forgotten tip allocation will have a default to home team tip - The team listed in the official draw as having a home game (even if the match is scheduled away from that team’s home ground).
- Margins are taken into account when two or more Eligible Entrants have the same Score. The number of points between an Eligible Entrant’s Margin prediction and the actual Margin for a Match will form the basis of the Eligible Entrant’s Margin Score. The Margin Score will accumulate each week.
- Eligible Entrants will be ranked on a leaderboard on the Website. For NRL Tipping ‘classic’, rankings will appear by Score for the previous Round (“Round Ranking”), and the overall Score for the Game to date (“Overall Ranking”) as set out below.
- In the event of a tie between two or more Eligible Entrants for a prize, the Eligible Entrant from the tied Eligible Entrants, who has the lowest aggregate margin will be ranked higher and deemed the prize winner. If Eligible Entrants are still tied, the Eligible Entrant who registered to participate in the Game first in time during the 2026 Promotion Period, will be ranked higher and deemed the prize winner.
7. SCORING OF POINTS – STREAK TIPPING
- To play the Streak Game, Eligible Entrants must access the Streak section of the site and Tip at least one match, within the time frames set out. Entrant’s may select to tip as many matches as they choose from the schedule. Non-tipped matches are not counted.
- For every correct Streak tip an Eligible Entrant will receive a point. Accumulation of these points across consecutive matches tipped will form a Streak.
- An incorrect Streak tip will be award no points and will terminate the entrant’s ongoing current streak at the last correct tip total.
- A new Streak will start at the next sequential correct tip.
- An entrant’s longest streak total will be saved as their Streak Tipping Total and used for ranking.
For example, if a user were to streak tip a round as follows:
Match 1: Home team tipped – correct result – current Streak total = 1, Longest streak =1
Match 2: Away team tipped – correct result – current Streak total = 2, Longest streak =2
Match 3: Skipped (not tipped) – current Streak total = 2, Longest streak =2
Match 4: Away team tipped – correct result – current Streak total = 3, Longest streak =3
Match 5: Home team tipped – incorrect – current Streak total = 0, Longest streak =3
Match 6: Skipped – current Streak total = 0, Longest streak =3
Match 7: Home team tipped – correct result – current Streak total = 1, Longest streak =3
Match 8: Away team tipped – correct result – current Streak total = 2, Longest streak =3
Entrant starts the next sequence of matches with an active current streak of 2, whilst they show on the rankings with a total of 3 (longest).
- Eligible Entrants will be ranked on a leaderboard on the Website. For Streak, the ranking will record and rank an entrant’s longest streak (‘Streak Ranking’). These rankings are an indication of ranking for all participants in the Game (including persons who participate in the Game who are not Eligible Entrants).
- Should a tie for the longest streak occur the Eligible Entrant with the fewest skipped matches will be declared the winner. If a further tiebreak is required, the user who registered for 2026 Tipping first in time, will be declared the winner.
